The Greatest Anime of All Time 03

So when’s the last time you saw a slice-of-life show so good?

Oh, that’s right.  Never.

Contrary to popular belief, I actually liked To Aru Majutsu no Index for something other than Greatest Anime Goddess to Ever Grace My Computer Screen, and that was the different powers that everybody had.  Aureolus could turn thoughts into reality, Magnus (fun fact: Stiyl Magnus is actually 14 years old) could control fire, and Touma was good with his right hand.  In any case, the idea of “wow, I wonder what they could do next?” just excited me, especially after seeing Accelerator’s godmode ability (seriously, changing vectors? …wow).  And what’s more… it was all in a slice-of-life context, meaning that each and every power was almost commonplace, and could show up at any time, giving a sci-fi feel that hyped up my inner sci-fi fanboy.

This episode continued that trend.  Invisibility is one nasty power, and it was interesting to see it in action without disrupting the slice-of-life comedy feel (using that wimpy thing on Mikoto?  Hah!) that the previous two episodes have set up.  Nowhere along the line did I feel that the action intruded upon the comedy, or vice versa.  Both aspects were in perfect equilibrium throughout the entire episode, something that Index completely failed at (that show became “action arc + random non-funny Index headbiting with a random, albeit awesome, filler half-episode”).

tl;dr This episode was awesome, and I’m going to go take some Tylenol now, because I am still very sick.

This was somewhat better than the last episode. They could have used a better villain though.

    Get better soon.

  2. Get better soon sweet-cheeks! *smooth* ;3

Let’s admit it, more than half of Index is made of Railgun and Biribiri.

Plus, the way her relation progresses with Touma is something I DEFINITELY wouldn’t want to spoil, novel-wise.

No matter how much I hate Touma’s speeches and slow-mo running, I still think that he’s cool enough for Mikoto. I’ve not read the light novels, but I know it’ll turn out all right in the end (though that said, I’m really interested to see what’s going to happen in To Aru S2).

        Heh hehehehhe
Hey guys are you doing the pairing only because Mikoto is popular?? Don’t get surprised but in the novels Touma is more close to the magic side and the magical girls(yeah. magical girls sounds weird) rather than the science(Accelerator is the symbol of the science side). I don’t care this shipping because is nothing interesting: Main character + first(tsundere) girl = predictable cliche and there are many examples like Shakugan no Shana, Zero no Tsukaima, Toradora and a etern list to make =_=
        Hey Japan!!! Be original!!

More surpring of all is the fact that Index(character) is geting a relevant rol in the series…sugoooi!<—sarcarsm
Meanwhile Mikoto… eh … we still have Railgun(manga and BD light novels) right?
And we(I) still love her <3

PS: talking about Index why she developed her body like a woman??, you know, japannesse people in their majority are lolicons… weird thing.

If it weren’t for your obsession with Mikoto, I would had never watched this.

    Thanks, a lot.

  5. […] While episode 3 fared much better than episode 2 (due to Kuroko’s lines being kept to a bare minimum) it felt like it was still a filler. At least it was a decent filler slice-of-life episode? (Apparently, shows that lack actual plot are now categorized as slice-of-life) […]

      I agree.

This was better than episode 2, but then again, episode 2 sucked, so it isn’t the best of comparison.

Episode 3 was a good “meh” and I’m still waiting for an actual plot.
