The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

To all you DVD-holdouts: You don’t know what you’re missing out on.

To all you dissenters: Grow a brain.

To all my fellow Haruhi fanboys (including you new ones): FUCK YEAH

This movie took all that was good about Haruhi S1, made it ten times better, and turned it into two hours and forty minutes of perfection.  I laughed until my sides hurt at dialogue between Kyon and Haruhi, I got sucked into the mystery of December 18th, and I was caught completely off-guard by the bit at the end.

And I loved every single second of it.

If you haven’t watched the shitty camrip yet, do it.  It’s the best anime movie out there, Kyoto Animation’s greatest work, and a seemingly impossible step up from the most popular anime of the last decade.

P.S.: Nothing I’ve said in this post does the movie enough justice.  It’s just that good.

Kay, you know what, I will sacrifice sleep again for this film for the heck of it. I hope I don’t regret it.

  2. kluxorious says:

I have watched it and jizz in my pants for straight whole week. I mean, damn! I don’t regret not waiting for the HQ. This is totally worth it.

    Fuck yeah!

  3. mefloraine says:

    I will eventually watch this…eventually!

And oh wow, you changed the blog name to Hcamripism too? Laughing so hard…XD

I’m trying not to cave in, but with posts like these…..

    You even changed your name…..FUCK.

  5. Janette says:

I know what I’m missing out on.

But. But. The DVD will be so worth it.

  6. Animenz says:

MUST NOT FAP…. errrr I mean must not download the shitty camrip. Seriously why isn’t there a Telesync version?
I hope the DVD’s will be released as early as this year. ARRRGH can’t wait.

“DVD will be so worth it”
    “the quality”
    “shitty camrip”

COME ON, WATCH IT. You have a higher chance at getting a seizure from the pure epicness of the film than from the camrip quality!

Bah, and here I was, doing big gestures about how I don’t care about Haruhi any more after “season two”… then I finally finished s2 last weekend, five episodes about moviemaking were meh, but hearing Kyon’s remarks again… aaah… ahem… and this post… and other things (like that icelandic volcano that can be blamed for everything)… and now, three hours later, I can only say: MY GOD, IT’S FULL OF STARS!!!

(just found you through the Aniblog Tourney)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who decided to watch the camrip and was totally blown away (I watched the original camrip before Mazui subbed it).

The movie is all that you say…simply amazing. It’s already ranked #1 on MAL and ANN, and the DVD hasn’t even come out yet XD I’m hoping to see its premiere at San Francisco but I don’t know if I’ll be able to.

  10. Simply, yes. Disappearance doesn’t need pretty HD visuals; it’s great on its own. I’m so glad I didn’t wait.

  11. fangzhao says:

Glad to hear so many people loved Disappearance! It truly is a masterpiece of a movie. Pretty HD visuals may make some movies like Kara no Kyoukai, but Disappearance speaks for itself.

  12. Major says:

I agree wholeheartedly with your appraisal of Disappearance, after having watched the shitty camrip about eight (!) times. It is a beautiful work that has single-handedly shoved a bunch of my much-loved animé series one slot down my “Must Buy” DVD list. Guess which film is at the top? Yep, Disappearance. 🙂
