As you may or may not know, I’m 100% against ecchi anime. I think they are dumb and stupid and moron. The very concept of panties flashing on screen more than once is ridiculous and only funny/interesting if it’s Zetsubou Sensei.
Also, as you may or may not know, I’m a huge, HUGE fan of Strike Witches.
Put two and two together, and hopefully that clears away some of the “omg ecchi shitservice anime!!!111one” spam about Strike Witches.
The first season of Strike Witches really appealed to me. I [metaphorically] fell in love with the characters. Each episode brought me closer to a single character, and the ending that tested the characters’ bonds made me realize how much I loved every single one of the Witches (though Minna is clearly superior to the rest). The fanservice was at times prominent, but never was it distracting.
Now you may think, “Wow, what a build up. You’re probably going to take the rest of the post to describe how Strike Witches 2 failed to meet any of your expectations.”
Well, you’re wrong. WRONG.
Because Strike Witches 2 (afaik) is just as good as Strike Witches 1. The lovable characters are back, and I’m going to keep on loving them!
P.S.: Yes, I know that I’m in the incredibly small minority here. I just visited an anime forum and the post about Strike Witches 2 was titled “Pantsu Witches.” Most of you sick bastards watch this show for the ecchi, or at least trick yourself into thinking that you do because nobody ever talks about anything else when it comes to Strike Witches. Nobody… except for me, of course. Now go out and enjoy this series for what it is: a brilliant example of good character, themes, plot, and everything else… with some ecchi on the side.
P.P.S.: The OP and ED are disappointing. Nothing close to the first season’s catchy songs. Just putting that out there.
I felt a tear come to my eye when the OP started rolling, and then the first aerial battle took my breath away.
A little sad that Saeko Chiba isn’t doing Mio’s voice this time around, but overall this was a great return.
Yeah, I was a little surprised about that myself, but whoever is voicing Mio is doing pretty well (Wikipedia says it’s Saori Seto, but I’ve never heard of her…)
I also like this show a lot. Much more than I expected to when I decided to watch it last year. I mean, I even watched an episode subbed in German because I couldn’t find anything else. (Which I don’t recommend, by the way.)
I am excited for this season.
I’m really, reallly un-excited for this season. Out of all the new shows I’ve seen so far, Strike Witches is the only one that seems interesting. That Seitokai crap is especially crappy.
I liked Occult Academy’s first episode a lot. Sadly, some of the others I’ve looked at…aren’t as great. Or are already going downhill. Ookami-san…>.<
I feel you, man.
I watch hardcore pornography for the character development.
Definitely!
Hey, wait, is that sarcasm I hear?
Agree.
