What I’m _______ (verb) for Spring ’09

So I’m knee-deep in my first real season of aniblogging, and I’ve realized that I can’t watch so many anime in a single season.
Thus I must part ways with at least half of the ~25 anime that I watched the first episodes of.
The scores here are the scores I’ve given these anime on MAL (1 – 10).
Watching (at least tolerable):

- Phantom ~Long ass name for the Phantom~ 5
Not my style. I didn’t like Darker than Black, and I didn’t like Gunslinger Girl (on hold – I’ll finish it eventually…). Episode one made me fall asleep. - Dragon Ball Kai 5
It’s not bad… but I’m not in the mood to stick around for a year+ to find out how much it’s improved over DBZ. - Queen’s Boobs 4
Episode 2 just made me sick to my stomach. I hated every minute of it. Even its having my three favorite seiyuus isn’t going to persuade me to keep watching this. - Hanasakeru Seishounen 3
Too much shoujo. - Marie & Gali 3
The show was good (not counting 00) until Galileo pulled out his rocketboard. Then, I started to hate every second of this show (not that there were many after that scene in 01). - Charady’s Daily Fail 3
It started out good… and then the jokes became humorless. Even Charady didn’t laugh in episode 10. - Mecha Mote Iinchou 3
I dropped this series at 2:12 into episode 1. And that’s with skipping the OP, so I actually watched ~20 seconds. SUPERDUPERCG + style that I dislike + story that doesn’t interest me in the least + person in OP who looks like Koizumi = DO NOT WANT (though the last one might be contradictory). This gets a 3 instead of a 2 or a 1 because I only watched 30 seconds of it. - Shin Mazinger Z-Hen 2
No way, José. I couldn’t stand watching episode one, and retro + me = RAEGGGGGGG so no thanks.

Episode 2 changed my mind about its inability to produce failure. - Pandora Hearts
Though 02 was a lot better than 01, I can still see some epic fail both in art and story for this series in the future. - Tayutama -Kiss on my Deity-
This has some truly shitty moments, and I can more than anybody probably wants to hear about episode one being one gigantic failure. I’m not dropping this only because there’s a loli …kitsunemimi? character. - Any bad episodes of anime on my “Watching,” “Iffy,” and “Continuing series” lists.
Yep. I didn’t watch some of the anime this season (Polyphonica, Jewel Pets, etc.), but I’m pretty sure that I’m not missing out on much.
yeah i feel you on this one, my currently airing anime DL folder on my external is almost 3 times what it was last season and that was with the carry over seasons like shikabane hime aka -> and a few others. anyways. im a little dissapointed that you didnt like phantom, it fascinates me, but i guess im partial since i loved noir and gunslinger girl. as for your drop list i agree though im going to give hanasakeru seishounen a few more episodes before i make a final decision, i want to see if it turns into a true reverse harem which in that case ill prob continue watching or if it turns into show off pretty boys and make me gag and shrink my testicles, which in that case ill probably drop.
Im looking forward to pandora hearts, ive pretty much decided to ignore the art and get wrapped up in the japanese version of a gothic alice in wonderland twist. i have high hopes for the series but its too early to tell if they are going to stick to the true character manifest. personally though i would swap the last 3 on your watch list with guin (omfg i love the ED), tayutama and saki. other than that im in agreeance.
oh i just noticed, you completely left out basquash and hatsukoi limited, 2 of my favorites so far this season >:D
I like posts like this because you can get a good impression of how much you can agree with this person’s opinions ever again. That said, I’ll proceed to never read your blog again because you ‘didn’t like darker than black or gunslinger girl’ and ‘retro + you = RAGE’

While I agree with digitalboy in that I like retro shit (Mazinger’s 2nd episode makes way more sense because it’s before all the shit that happened in episode 1) and series like darker than black/gunslinger girl/noir; (phantom is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite show this season thus far) I will keep reading your blog because I like making fun of badness. I also like comparing themes and trends like in your ahoge/red hair posts. Too much Haruhi fanboying though, it will fade and you will be jaded just like the rest of us at trolling kadokawa.

@Taka: I’ve watched a few episodes of Noir, and I actually liked it (though I went on to watch Minami-ke after that, and it’s on my on-hold list), so I’m not sure exactly what appeals to me in anime! As a somewhat newcomer to the anime community, my inner Haruhi fanboy is naturally going strong… well, at least until the 28-episode run turns out to be two season ones back-to-back. 😉
hm… though Phantom and Hanasakeru didn’t grab my interest, I don’t see how “not my style” or “too much shoujo” are objective criterion for rating them. then again, I don’t see why your ratings can’t be subjective either, so it doesn’t really bother me much.
Haha, yeah. My ratings are completely and utterly subjective and biased. If I don’t like an anime, I just can’t give it a high score because that’s just not what I feel! :p
