Saki 02: Saki’s mother is a porn star

Yes way!
Note that I am in no way better. In fact, I’m even more sick. It’s just that I’ve had half of this post typed up since who-knows-when, and the “draft” thing kept bothering me. Will reply to comments when I’m better (or not. I probably won’t – too lazy).
For your convenience, I’ve split this post up into two pages: one making fun of this episode of Saki (page 1), and one asplaining why Saki is as close to a parody as you’re going to get (page 2). [Protip: Honestly, there ain’t much difference between the two pages – I got sidetracked. Go figure.]
So basically, that means that this page will be a bunch of pictures with my witty (or wannabe-witty) captions, culminating in a series of screenshots proving that Saki’s mom is a porn star.

I’m pretty sure that Saki doesn’t say anything to Nodoka before this, since she starts off with “Haramura-san.” I guess the sun sets fast!

As revealed by this episode, Saki’s mom is actually a famous porn star who left her husband and child (children?) for her work. Because of her influence, Saki gained an attration to females, as seen in her love for Nodoka. Still, Saki says…
…to play “mahjong” with her again. The “others” she mentions are Saki’s sisters, who have been manipulated by their mother to go into the business. If Saki’s father had not left, I’m pretty sure that Saki would have said “I’m sure that Mom and the others will come back… or I’m going with them!”

i lol’d……hard. and who knows, it could have been a mahjong magazine or a porn magazine. but saki is always saying how playing mahjong with the family made them mad because she always won so if her mom is playing mahjong professionally then i sense a mother vs daughter mahjong battle.

The picture on the cover is Fujita-pro who shows up in ep. 4 and covers commentary for the tournament.
The characters on the cover are mahjong so the full meaning would be “Mahjong Today.”
On page. 57 is a picture of Saki’s sister, Miyanaga Teru, and a profile of her. You can see what it says in ep. 3 when Saki is sitting under the tree with the magazine open to that page. It basically says that Miyanaga Teru is the captain of the Shiraitodai High School and has won the past two national tournaments and is aiming for her third this summer. Also, it says that Teru showed some “frightfully high scoring hands” or some such at the spring qualifiers. Given that her specialty is a yakuman hand, she must have been getting double or triple yakuman hands or more. Teru should be the final boss at the national tournament.
