Evolution of the Loli

kso I lied.  I’m still sick, but I’m sick+bored. @__@

So I’ve been watching Strike Witches lately, and despite the blatant throngs of fanservice directed at every fetish imaginable (mecha, sailor fuku, nekomimi, pantsu, loli, school swimsuit, meganekko-ish, etc), I’ve liked it.

But still, I thought that Yoshika was ~10.  In retrospect, I should’ve known better, having watched Lucky Star and all…

Episode 6 is Yoshika’s birthday, and it was a huge surprise to me that she’s actually… fifteen!?

Who-the-hell-cares-what-her-name-is Loli, Kurokami, Age 10- aka “who cares anyway, I’m just putting her here for the GIF”

Yoshika Miyafuji, Strike Witches, Age 15

Shana, Shakugan no Shana II, Age unspecified, believed to be 15/16

Konata Izumi, Lucky Star, Age 18

Mio Sakamoto, Strike Witches, Age 20

Fuuko Ibuki, CLANNAD ~After Story~, Age 24

Next up, 40-year-old lolis!
Seriously, is there some place to draw the age line?

17 was barely scraping by for Fuuko in CLANNAD S1, and 24 (same exact appearance, mind you) is just… wha-

Now I’m sure that there are lolis in anime who are far older than Fuuko (though it’s quite a scary thought), but I don’t think there should be any.
At the very least, can’t Fuuko age?

For me, the loli approach really loses some of its appeal when the loli in question is too old (though if the anime makes fun of the loli-ness of the loli, it’s fine) and gets slightly creepy.  A 24-year-old who hasn’t changed in appearance for 7 years and who looks like a 12-year-old is just weird!

  1. You forgot Komoe-sensei from Index! She could be your 40 year old loli. Oh wait… haha.

I just came across your blog and I really like it. Mikoto is win. <3

Oh WOAH, I totally forgot about her! D:
At first, I actually thought that she was just a really smart student teaching a class… just goes to show you how much the loli aspect is overdone! >:|

    Thanks you :3

Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, loli is at the whim of pedophilia.

Looks like you’re blog’s slowly getting some attention. Good job.

    • fangzhao says:

Honestly, that’s the wittiest thing I’ve heard all day (seems to say something about my day…).

      Thanks!
… but none of this attention comes at the hands of animenano! D:
I registered my blog, but I think it got rejected for its ten-day-old status (is there even a way to find out if your blog is rejected or not? o_o”).

      • 7 says:

If it gets rejected, AnimeNano will let you know politely. Other than that, just wait. The owner doesn’t check everyday for feed applicants. When he does, he does bulks of them at a time.

      • fangzhao says:

        Oh, really!

Er… wait… so I submitted my blog, but now when I click on the link that says “Manage/Submit your Blog,” the blog submission form pops up again.

Is that a sign that it’s been rejected? …Because it happened once, I didn’t get any notice of rejection, and I resubmitted it (uh oh, that might look like spam…!).

Come to think of it, how do you know if you got rejected in the first place? Does the owner of animenano email you or something? x_x

Psh. Who wants an underage loli?

im glad you decided to watch strike witches and yeah with konata, her age threw me for a huge loop. kagami/miyuki could pull it off but konata/tsukasa still look 14-15 “ish”. With yoshika/shana/sakamoto, the ages fit the look and it goes with the story. fuuko i was hoping to see a grown up version, like adorable hot chick with grey hair and a nice figure….BUT NO. i get another clannad loli….oh wait, she is the only loli. WHERES KOTOMI? Back to strike witches, currently waiting for DVD eps 9-12 to release before i finish it.

Actually, Mei is another loli, but she grows up while Fuuko, who’s originally older than Mei, stays the same.

I don’t think any of the Lucky Star characters look anything close to their age (except maybe the freshmen). >:
