{"id":2779,"date":"2009-06-07T00:00:13","date_gmt":"2009-06-07T07:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikoto.wordpress.com\/?p=2779"},"modified":"2009-06-07T00:00:13","modified_gmt":"2009-06-07T07:00:13","slug":"summer-2009-looks-awesome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flomu.net\/blog\/2009\/06\/summer-2009-looks-awesome\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer 2009 looks awesome"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/summer-2009-v2-export.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2780\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/summer-2009-v2-export.jpg?resize=500%2C688\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"688\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is not a bltant ripoff of <a href=\"http:\/\/exce7ion.kokidokom.net\/2009\/06\/the-partial-failure-that-is-summer-anime-lineup-2009\/\" target=\"_blank\">7&#8217;s summer preview<\/a> post style. \u00a0As you can see, pros are in red and cons are in green, whereas 7&#8217;s are the other way around.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2781\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/snapshot20090311163307.jpg?resize=500%2C340\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Zan Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei<\/strong> [<span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>+6<\/strong><\/span>]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SHAFT <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Dark humor <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Something I&#8217;ve been waiting on for a while <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+2<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Best music ever\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+2<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Anything with despair, suicide, and characters-that-all-look-the-same-but-actually-are-very-interesting and manages to be an awesome comedy is good in my book. \u00a0Zetsubou Sensei had two incredible seasons and a masterpiece of an OVA, and it certainly deserves this third season. \u00a0I&#8217;m just hoping that it doesn&#8217;t hit the sequel curse and fail miserably (though with an anime like this, I doubt it&#8217;ll pull a ZnT).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/umineko1.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2784\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/umineko1.jpg?resize=500%2C335\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"335\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Umineko no Naku Koro ni<\/strong> [<strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+4<\/span><\/strong>]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Descendant of Higurashi\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+3<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Pictures of the VN make me want to puke <strong><span style=\"color:#00ff00;\">-2<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>But then again, pictures of Higurashi&#8217;s VN made me want to puke <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+2<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Loli\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+2<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Witches instead of demons <strong><span style=\"color:#00ff00;\">-1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This doesn&#8217;t sound as interesting as Higurashi did (more mystery than horror), and it will probably leave less of an impact now that Higurashi has exposed everybody to what an anime adaption of a Ryukishi07 VN can become (namely one of the best anime of all time), but Umineko should still be an intense, creepy anime in the likes of Higurashi.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/snapshot20090509235358.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2782\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/snapshot20090509235358.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Spice and Wolf II<\/strong> [<span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>+2.5<\/strong><\/span>]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First season looked like fail, but turned out epic <span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>+3<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>The OVA had shit for art <strong><span style=\"color:#00ff00;\">-2<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Horo is an awesome female lead <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Merchants are cools <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+0.5<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The first season was certainly entertaining, and it brought what seemed like the boringest of topics to life and epicness.  Horo is among the strongest female leads in anime, and is flat-out awesome.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/bakemonogatarismall.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2785\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/bakemonogatarismall.png?resize=500%2C363\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"363\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bakemonogatari<\/strong> [<strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+2<\/span><\/strong>]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Female lead looks cool <span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>+1<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>SHAFT <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Vampire <strong><span style=\"color:#00ff00;\">-2<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Not vampire anymore\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Interesting summary <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To be honest, this interested me for two reasons: the art and <strong>SHAFT<\/strong>. \u00a0After reading the summary, it feels like this will end up having an actual plotline. \u00a0It could end up pretty nice to have such a change of pace after the SHAFT&#8217;s signature\u00a0comedic randomness of Goku SZS, Maria+Holic, Natsu no Arashi, etc.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/tokyo8m.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2789\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/tokyo8m.jpg?resize=500%2C319\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"319\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tokyo Magnitude 8.0<\/strong> [<span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/span>]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nice title <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>BONES <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Somewhat interesting premise <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Exactly how far can a post-apocalyptic anime go without stuffing in either mystery or time jumps? <strong><span style=\"color:#00ff00;\">-1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Did not catch my attention until people started raving about it <strong><span style=\"color:#00ff00;\">-1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It seems like this thing is already overhyped. :\/<\/p>\n<p>I find the idea of staging an anime during a post-apocalyptic event to be total failure, unless the anime is going to stuff in mystery and\/or sci-fi to find out the cause of the urfquake or it&#8217;s going to skip a few years to show the actual post-apocalyptic way of life.<\/p>\n<p>On another note, the overused picture up there is an overstatement of this anime&#8217;s capabilities. \u00a0It&#8217;s a picture of the catastrophe, but the summary suggests that the anime will focus on the events after this earthquake.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/taishou_yakyuu_001.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2793 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/taishou_yakyuu_001.jpg?resize=400%2C493\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"493\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Taishou Yakyuu Musume<\/strong> [<span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>+1<\/strong><\/span>]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>That&#8217;s a title I&#8217;m bound to forget <strong><span style=\"color:#00ff00;\">-0.5<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>J.C. Staff <strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">+1<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Unique setting <span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>+1<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>No males &#8211; looks kind of like a fanservice deal <strong><span style=\"color:#00ff00;\">-0.5<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This obviously isn&#8217;t the average sports anime. \u00a0Set in an era where baseball is unknown, this anime will probably lean more towards slice-of-life and\/or comedy rather than the traditional hardcore plotline of the sports genre. \u00a0You add to that the fact that this anime is focusing on females and not males, and you&#8217;ve got yourself one weird anime. \u00a0I just hope that J.C. Staff <span style=\"color:#ff0000;\"><strong>+1<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Unappealing art <strong><span style=\"color:#00ff00;\">-0.5<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Yuri <strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">+0<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Jesus, that summary sounds boring <span style=\"color:#00ff00;\"><strong>-1<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How ever much I may like J.C.
