{"id":4431,"date":"2010-04-05T21:40:11","date_gmt":"2010-04-06T04:40:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikoto.wordpress.com\/?p=4431"},"modified":"2010-04-05T21:40:11","modified_gmt":"2010-04-06T04:40:11","slug":"saying-sayonara-to-zetsubou-sensei","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/flomu.net\/blog\/2010\/04\/saying-sayonara-to-zetsubou-sensei\/","title":{"rendered":"Saying Sayonara to Zetsubou Sensei"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/snapshot20100404020747.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4433\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/snapshot20100404020747.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/snapshot20100404020734.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4432\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/snapshot20100404020734.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->A year and a half ago, I picked up an anime with a very melancholy-sounding name. \u00a0From the short description on ANN, I thought it was going to be some romantic comedy with teacher\/student relationships.<\/p>\n<p>Boy, was I wrong. \u00a0And boy, was I glad I was wrong.<\/p>\n<p>That anime with the melancholy-sounding title, with the story that completely betrayed any attempts to summarize it, was Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei.<\/p>\n<p>As I watched the first season, I laughed so hard my sides hurt. \u00a0As I watched the second season, I laughed less, yet I was more interested. \u00a0By the time the first OVA came along, I was a rabid fan of the series. \u00a0The third season answered my and many others&#8217; call for more despair. \u00a0And finally, the last OVA came out. \u00a0The final two episodes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/snapshot20100404014154.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4435\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/snapshot20100404014154.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Having Zetsubou Sensei at your side is like having Matoi at your side (caution, butchered romaji ahead):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Ita n desu ka?<\/p>\n<p>E. Zutto.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei is always there, whether you want it to be or not. \u00a0But when it goes away, there&#8217;s a big gaping hole where it used to be. \u00a0And then you start to wonder, &#8220;Is that it? \u00a0That&#8217;s all the Zetsubou Sensei we&#8217;re ever going to see?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei holds a special place in [the anime section of] my heart. \u00a0It was the first good comedy (favorite genre!)
