{"id":3582,"date":"2009-10-11T20:24:55","date_gmt":"2009-10-12T03:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikoto.wordpress.com\/?p=3582"},"modified":"2009-10-11T20:24:55","modified_gmt":"2009-10-12T03:24:55","slug":"quicker-first-impressions-kobato-sora-no-otoshimono-the-sacred-blacksmith-kimi-ni-todoke-and-sasameki-koto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/flomu.net\/blog\/2009\/10\/quicker-first-impressions-kobato-sora-no-otoshimono-the-sacred-blacksmith-kimi-ni-todoke-and-sasameki-koto\/","title":{"rendered":"Quicker first impressions: Kobato., Sora no Otoshimono, The Sacred Blacksmith, Kimi ni Todoke, and Sasameki Koto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apparently, my last post was too long. \u00a0And by too long, I mean &#8220;wow, this post took me like two hours to type up, and I was planning on taking twenty minutes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/snapshot20091007002132.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3584\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/snapshot20091007002132.jpg?resize=500%2C281\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Kobato.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Thank God I don&#8217;t read summaries before I watch shows (though I probably should have before plunging into the shithole that was Miracle Train). \u00a0Had I known this show was shoujo, I probably wouldn&#8217;t&#8217;ve given it a chance.<\/p>\n<p>My history with shoujo shows has been something like: emo vampires + unimpressive guys changing into random animals + Miracle Train + Mecha Mote Iinchou.<\/p>\n<p>But this show was different. \u00a0Sure, as <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/2009digitalboy\/status\/4677359636\" target=\"_blank\">2009digitalboy says<\/a>, &#8220;&#8230;everything in it has been done a million times,&#8221; but hey, I haven&#8217;t seen much shoujo (mostly to avoid emo vampires and ugly talking train stations), and since the dojikko nature isn&#8217;t exactly for sex appeal (as opposed to shounen, where the clumsy things are often accompanied with ten thousand panty shots), there&#8217;s a different feel.<\/p>\n<p>And talking of &#8220;feel,&#8221; this anime felt like my favorite manga:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/yotsuba2.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3585\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/yotsuba2.jpg?resize=481%2C191\" alt=\"\" width=\"481\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Maybe it&#8217;s the innocent\/naive nature that Kobato shares in common with Yotsuba? \u00a0I don&#8217;t know, but while I was watching this episode, I kept thinking back to Yotsuba. \u00a0It&#8217;s a lot harder to like Kobato (given that she&#8217;s not a six year old with green hair), but hey, it helps. \u00a0(It&#8217;s like how I keep thinking &#8220;Mushishi&#8221; while watching Natsume Yuujinchou.)<\/p>\n<p>tl;dr I liked Kobato.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/snapshot20091006010403.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3588\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/snapshot20091006010403.jpg?resize=500%2C283\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"283\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Sora no Otoshimono<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>CLICHESCLICHESCLICHESCLICHESCLICHES<\/p>\n<p>That pretty much sums up this show. \u00a0The angel is not attractive in any way, shape, or form, I found the male lead to be one annoying bastard, and the moral of the story was&#8230; wait, why is there a [cliched] moral in episode one again?<\/p>\n<p>But I liked the show. \u00a0I must be a total retard. \u00a0This episode was 100% shit, and the show will probably continue to be shit until that blue haired girl comes in, because she looks cool.<\/p>\n<p>But I liked the show. \u00a0So in order to please my moronic side, I have placed this show under &#8220;The Good&#8221; over there &#8211;&gt;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3589\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/snapshot20091006014231.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3589\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3589\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/snapshot20091006014231.jpg?resize=450%2C255\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"255\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3589\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">but I actually suck.  A lot.  So much that the entire episode shows how much I fail.  I hope that I can do what I do in the OP soon, but people would probably scoff and say &#39;fat chance, fanservice girl.&#39;  Come to think of it, why is my armor fitted around my boobs?  Do they have to make new armor if my boobs grow?&quot;<\/p><\/div>\n<h3 style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The Sacred Blacksmith<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Cecily Cambell, knight from the Knight Guards of the Third Independent Trade City, reminds me of Yoko Littner for some strange reason.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Things in common:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Red hair<\/li>\n<li>Emphasis on boobs<\/li>\n<li>Character design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Things that don&#8217;t match up:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fighting skills<\/li>\n<li>Degree of coolness<\/li>\n<li>Length of speeches<\/li>\n<li>Weapon strength<\/li>\n<li>Boob armor<\/li>\n<li>Attractiveness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>tl;dr Yoko is better, and Cecily&#8217;s boob armor isn&#8217;t exactly a smart idea.<\/p>\n<p>I like this show, but that could just be me liking the character designs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/snapshot20091009005529.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3592\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/snapshot20091009005529.jpg?resize=500%2C281\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Kimi ni Todoke<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Speaking of character designs&#8230; Kimi ni Todoke has thoroughly repulsed me with its ugly characters and excessive shoujo sparkles.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3593\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/snapshot20091009005928.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3593\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3593\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/snapshot20091009005928.jpg?resize=450%2C253\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3593\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Excuse me, but all this glitter is crowding up the screen.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">The plot is nothing really interesting either. \u00a0If you want a &#8220;weird face = hopeless relationship&#8221;
