Isaac Dian and Miria Harvent (Baccano!)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It looks like I&#8217;m cheating from the get-go, but oh well. \u00a0It&#8217;s hard to talk about one of these two without mentioning the other. \u00a0Everything about them &#8211; from their actions to their synchronized speech &#8211; exudes the same energy that you won&#8217;t find anywhere else.<\/p>\n<p>There really isn&#8217;t a couple as eccentric as this pair. \u00a0In essence, <em>Baccano<\/em> starts and ends with these two. \u00a0They keep the light-hearted plot light-hearted, which, given the plot (immortal mafia members killing people in gruesome fashion), is one huge accomplishment. We see them in every other scene as some well placed and honestly funny comic relief. \u00a0Let me say that again: &#8220;honestly funny comic relief.&#8221; \u00a0In fact, these two are probably my favorite comic relief characters ever. \u00a0There are <a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/index-biting-touma.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">losers<\/a> who try their hand at comic relief and fail hard, and then there&#8217;s Isaac and Miria.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"text-decoration:none;\" href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/da99e95b797d78ef6bd53dd38eb6c4a7.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3652\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/da99e95b797d78ef6bd53dd38eb6c4a7.jpg?resize=500%2C520\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"520\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">29. Leopard (Sora Kake Girl)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Lelouchbot, Leopard, Bakapard, or whatever you call him, is a work of art. \u00a0I would go so far as to say that I probably wouldn&#8217;t&#8217;ve watched Soaring Cake Girl had it not been for Leopard.<\/p>\n<p>Everything about him &#8211; from his appearance to his childish, stubborn personality &#8211; is a complete 180 from the Jun Fukuperouge that we know. \u00a0Lelouch is a genius. \u00a0Leopard is a Bakapard obsessed with retrieving his balls. \u00a0Lelouch became emperor. \u00a0Leopard is a king who rules over nothing. \u00a0Lelouch sacrifices for the good of humanity. \u00a0Leopard&#8230; well, he&#8217;s just stupid. \u00a0But hey, he&#8217;s lovable.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to him, I still don&#8217;t know how much of Sora Kake Girl was parody and how much was intended to be taken seriously. \u00a0He broke everybody&#8217;s image of Lelouch, and well, everybody (myself included) loved it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"text-decoration:none;\" href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/a3dfa80910aa5346fdeec039cbb9c6933d9bb686.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3653\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/a3dfa80910aa5346fdeec039cbb9c6933d9bb686.png?resize=300%2C450\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">28. Osaka (Azumanga Daioh)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Azumanga Daioh was my first slice-of-life comedy, and I loved it, even if it felt very slow at times. \u00a0In retrospect, through, the reason I watched that show was because of Osaka.<\/p>\n<p>I recently bought the four volumes of Azumanga Daioh, and I was really surprised at how much appeal Osaka had for me. \u00a0Every joke without Osaka in it is four panels wasted. \u00a0It&#8217;s almost as if Osaka makes the jokes, and the rest of the characters are just&#8230; there. \u00a0In any case, Osaka has been for me one of the greatest figures of comedy. \u00a0Who could forget <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=37mPoKQijj8\">this<\/a>, anyway?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"text-decoration:none;\" href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/2d714dd6820bcb8a6f33bc29f683f4be.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3664\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/2d714dd6820bcb8a6f33bc29f683f4be.jpg?resize=500%2C366\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">27. Aiko Andou (true tears)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Everybody likes Noe. \u00a0That&#8217;s a given. \u00a0Some people like Hiromi. \u00a0That&#8217;s fine. \u00a0Who the hell would like Aiko? \u00a0Well, I do.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Maybe it&#8217;s the underdog view I have of her. \u00a0She&#8217;s that third female character who we all know is never going to get together with the main character. \u00a0Heck, she gets flat-out rejected halfway through the show and has to go reconcile with the guy she rejects. \u00a0You&#8217;ve got to feel at least a bit sorry for her, huh?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/51dd6f4ea697a42e7b8e93934526d5c0.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3666\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/51dd6f4ea697a42e7b8e93934526d5c0.jpg?resize=500%2C703\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"703\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">26. Ayu Tsukimiya (Kanon)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Uguu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">I hate moe used badly. \u00a0Honestly, I do. \u00a0Yui was a failure moeblob. \u00a0Her moe was not moe. \u00a0Ayu, on the other hand, is a winner moeblob. \u00a0Her moe is so moe that I liked her moe. \u00a0Moe is moe moe can moe moe moe, but moe moe? \u00a0Moe moe moe able to moe moe so moe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Usually, people would put up an ambiguous picture as their header for this sort of list post. \u00a0But hey, I&#8217;m not usual, and you already know who #1 is going to be.
