{"id":3139,"date":"2009-07-06T23:15:27","date_gmt":"2009-07-07T06:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikoto.wordpress.com\/?p=3139"},"modified":"2009-07-06T23:15:27","modified_gmt":"2009-07-07T06:15:27","slug":"anime-expo-days-3-and-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/flomu.net\/blog\/2009\/07\/anime-expo-days-3-and-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Anime Expo Days 3 and 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/dsc05598.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3140\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/dsc05598.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Day Three: Blogger meetup + being tired<\/p>\n<p>Day Four: Eureka figure GET + being more tired<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Now those ten words or so would have been the entire post had I typed this up last night. \u00a0In fact, I went to bed around six hours early last night, at 9 PM. \u00a0AX has probably been the most tiring workout I&#8217;ll get all summer. \ud83d\ude10<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color:#ff0000;\">Table of Contents<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Day Three<\/li>\n<li>Day Four<\/li>\n<li>Pictures<\/li>\n<li>Loot<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>So on day three, we got up at 7 AM to go to the Indecent Otaku Comedy Hour, the only panel I actually looked forward to. \u00a0There were quite a few technical difficulties, but the hosts were pretty awesome, so it didn&#8217;t really matter that much. \u00a0Much\u00a0lulz were had, and it definitely was the best panel I went to at AX. \u00a0Of course, I only went to five or six panels.<\/p>\n<p>The only things I got on camera were the Training with Raynako portion and the Going-to-Disneyland-and-asking-normal-people-about-anime video.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the <strong>official<\/strong> video of the latter part:<\/p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"590\" height=\"332\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q4xp1Se5hkU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<p>In conclusion, I think that this was a much better choice than waking up early on day two only to take an hour to eat breakfast, arriving at the convention center at 9:30, and hanging around until Photoshop 101 started. \u00a0What a useless panel for me. \u00a0Ugh.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3143\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/icystorm.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3143\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3143\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/icystorm.png?resize=450%2C338\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3143\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Everybody left the meetup at random times, so here&#39;s the best picture of Icystorm that I have.  At the time, I thought he was just some guy crazy enough to start waiting in line before even me to get a front seat.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>So after that, <a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/internets1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">I met a guy from the internets!!1<\/a>, then went to the exhibit hall again, looking to cover the other half that I couldn&#8217;t get to on Friday. \u00a0Needless to say, I accidentally turned a wrong corner and went straight down the center lane, stopping at random spots. \u00a0In the end, I got a Yotsuba figure. \u00a0The only piece of Yotsuba merchandise in the entire hall, mind you. \u00a0In fact, there were signs saying &#8220;Don&#8217;t touch&#8221; (sth like that) with Yotsuba&#8217;s face on them all over the booths. \u00a0There were probably two or three at every booth, and <strong>nobody<\/strong> sold any Yotsuba manga. \u00a0Not even the Japanese manga. \u00a0Jesus. \u00a0The only Yotsuba manga in the entire place was in the manga cafe, but it was volume one.<\/p>\n<p>And the rest of the day was spent in the Exhibit Hall, the aniblogger meetup, and in Little Tokyo, where Kinokuniya was already closed, and where I had hoped to find a <em>To Aru Majutsu no Index<\/em> artbook. \u00a0July 4th.<\/p>\n<p>Some notes on the meetup:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CCY (from Mega Megane Moe!) and calaggie (from Nigorimasen! Blog) were holding up their hands in front of the entrance, and I thought that they were for some other meetup.<\/li>\n<li>It was twice as awkward as I thought it&#8217;d be. \u00a0Internet + real life != instant goodness, I guess?<\/li>\n<li>We sat in a row, so I got to talk with five or so people instead of sixteen.<\/li>\n<li>I ate lunch fifteen minutes before the meetup, so I got a coke, which was not very appealing.<\/li>\n<li>I don&#8217;t usually read many of the blogs of the anibloggers who showed up (shitty wording, I know, but that&#8217;s the best way I could phrase it).<\/li>\n<li>Icystorm looks like a guy from my school, so I couldn&#8217;t stop staring at him. \u00a0I think he thought that I was either weird or gay.<\/li>\n<li>My blog is noob in age. \u00a0But my ideas are awesome. \u00a0Desho?<\/li>\n<li>Like I said above, people left at different times, so I couldn&#8217;t get a group photo. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t want a bunch of separate photos either. \u00a0Though in retrospect, that might&#8217;ve been better.<\/li>\n<li>Everybody ignored CCY when he left.<\/li>\n<li>I didn&#8217;t see any of the bloggers anywhere else in the four days that I was there, except at the panel. \u00a0I think they all tried to avoid me.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;m younger than almost all other bloggers. \u00a0I should be fanboying over Naruto and playing with my Yu-Gi-Oh cards. \u00a0But here I am, running a shitty blog. \u00a0I must be a god.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I ate dinner at a place in Little Tokyo below a super popular ramen shop. \u00a0We were the only customers there.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day Four on page two<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Day Four<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/dsc05637.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:0 initial initial;\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/dsc05637.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Major, major wind-down day for me. \u00a0I was tired as hell throughout the day, and I really didn&#8217;t feel like doing anything.<\/p>\n<p>I had promised myself that I would do a scouring of the Exhibit Hall, and so I did. \u00a0By this time, I had given up all hope of finding anything Mikoto-related. \u00a0Thus I went looking for a Eureka figure. \u00a0A few of the booths had employees who didn&#8217;t know who Eureka was. \u00a0lolwut??\/<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, I found two booths selling a figure at $40 and $45, and I went off to the Artist&#8217;s Alley to hopefully buy more artwork. \u00a0Having bought a few pieces on Saturday, I realized that not many of the booths had good stuff. \u00a0Thus my search ended in failure and was plagued by thoughts of people buying my precious Eureka figure.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/dsc05664.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:0 initial initial;\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/dsc05664.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After a few hours, I couldn&#8217;t stand it any longer and rushed back to the first booth, where I saw a person holding my $40 Eureka figure and eyeing it. \u00a0I took it and bought it after unsuccessfully trying to drive down the price, which was already much cheaper than the 5880 yen retail price. \u00a0And now I&#8217;m sitting, staring at it while trying to type up this post. \u00a0As of right now, here is my favorite characters list:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mikoto Misaka<\/li>\n<li>Eureka<\/li>\n<li>Kyon<\/li>\n<li>Shana<\/li>\n<li>Nagi<\/li>\n<li>Tomoya Okazaki<\/li>\n<li>Yotsuba Koiwai<\/li>\n<li>Kallen Stadtfeld<\/li>\n<li>Kagami Hiiragi<\/li>\n<li>Yuki Nagato<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Apparently, people sell figures of Koizumi, but not Kyon. \u00a0Some people don&#8217;t even know who this &#8220;Kyon&#8221; person is until I explain that he&#8217;s the main character from Haruhi. \u00a0Stupid perverted people, always thinking of females of panty shots.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to blame Genshiken for instilling the idea that panties make a figure. \u00a0People knew about Kyon&#8217;s sister, and not about Kyon. \u00a0How is this even possible?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/dsc05674.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3160\" src=\"http:\/\/mikoto.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/dsc05674.jpg?resize=500%2C375\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I bet that&#8217;s why they don&#8217;t make Mikoto figures. \u00a0Just because she chooses to wear something other than panties?
